The Cause of All Our Troubles

Despite man’s amazing accomplishments in areas like science, technology, healthcare, transportation and communication, WHY is he still plagued by war, poverty, hunger and disease?

Transcript:

The Constant Church of God presents clear answers to your questions, directly from the Bible!

WHY do we live in such perilous times with  such appalling, escalating evils in the world today?

In our  towns or cities.  Right in our very own neighborhoods. In the places we work and conduct our business. The places we worship. In our schools.  Even in our own homes!

Crime, violence and mayhem is rampant everywhere. And becoming more heinous.

WHY the unfortunate breakdown in the family? Family and home life, the FOUNDATION of any flourishing civilization, falling apart.

On the one hand, we have made such remarkable advances in science, technology, engineering, healthcare and many other fields.

We have developed intricate and specialized computer systems, harnessed the power of the atom, sent men to the moon and back; but we haven’t managed to solve many of the problems that continue to plague our society today.

In spite of all the astonishing breakthroughs that have resulted in great material progress and improved much of the world’s standard of living,  much of the world still lives in poverty and squalor.

When there seems to be no end to man's inventive genius, why can't we solve the problems that prevent us from living together in peace and  harmony and prosperity?

This is certainly the great paradox of our day and age.

WHAT is the cause for all of our troubles?

WHY do we lack the know-how to solve the these problems?

To find the answer, we have to go back to the very beginning.

To the incident at the garden of Eden and these two special, symbolic trees: the Tree of Life and the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil.

God had created the very first humans from the dust of the ground:  Adam and his wife Eve.

And God told them they could eat the fruit of every tree in the garden.

Every tree, except one.  That one: the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

Because if they ate of that tree, God told them they would surely die.

But if they chose to obey God and take of the tree of life, they would receive  His gift of eternal life.

God intended for them to develop and acquire the same holy, righteous character He has.

So God created them with the ability to think.  To choose. To make  up their own minds.

So there was their choice: life or death.

And after He’d taught them the essential knowledge they needed, He put them to the test.

Their choice would impact —— for the good or the bad —— the lives of every man, woman and child who would descend from them.

And so, right here is the  turning point in your life and mine.

God wanted to know what Adam and Eve were going to do.

So God allowed Satan the devil to come along in the form of this serpent to test them.

Would they obey Him and do what He told them?  Or would they listen to Satan and go his way instead?

Satan tells Eve, “God lied to you.  You’re not going to die if you eat of that tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

God’s being selfish. He doesn’t you want to become like He is.”

And they chose poorly.

Satan deceived Eve into eating of the forbidden fruit, but Adam was not (1 Timothy 2:14).

Adam didn’t believe God.

Instead, he believed Satan.  Choosing for the entire human family that would come from him, Adam disobeyed the clear, explicit command from God, his Maker.

Adam took of the wrong tree. He rejected the Tree of Life, which would’ve given him eternal life!

But he didn’t. So Adam died after nine hundred and thirty years.

Now by taking of that tree of the knowledge of good and evil, Adam and Eve took to themselves the knowledge to decide, the knowledge to form what they thought was right and what they thought was wrong.

That was the decision they made.

In effect, this is what Adam told God.

"Look God, I want you to get your nose out of my business.

I'll do as I please. I'll decide what is good and what is evil. I don't need you, and I don't want you to be my God. I don't want you to be my ruler. I reject you as the source of knowledge."

And so, God basically tells Adam.

“Okay, Adam. You have rejected me. You don't want me to be your God, you don't want me to be your ruler, you don't want me to be your source of knowledge.

You go right ahead then and decide for yourself what is right and what is wrong.”

And that's what every single human being has been doing.

From that time in the garden of Eden to our time NOW in this 21st century!

And the result has been confusion and strife, hatred and division because what may be right for one individual is wrong to another.  And what is wrong for one individual may be right to another.

No standards.  No absolutes.  Every man a law unto himself.  Every man choosing to do what is right in his own eyes.

When Adam and Eve rejected God and God's law, and went Satan's way and chose THAT WAY, they cut themselves off from God.

So God gave Adam exactly what he wanted. “I’m going to let you go the way you have chosen.  And you will now experience for yourselves as well as your posterity, the consequences of going Satan’s way of vanity and lust and greed, of jealousy and envy, of competition and strife, of resentment and bitterness and hatred and murder and violence.

You are only going to bring suffering on yourself and all of humanity. You'll never have peace, because of the way you live."

So God banished Adam and Eve from the garden. He immediately closed up the Tree of Life and shut it off from mankind.

God sentenced all humanity —— the children of Adam and Eve —— to 6,000 years, of being cut off from Him.

The world has gone on in that hapless condition of being cut off from God. It does not know God.

God is allowing a rebellious human family to learn the painful lesson that man’s ways have produced the colossal woes, the misery,  the heartache, the injustice and the suffering in this world today!

There is a way that seems right to man, but that way leads ultimately to death with trouble and affliction, heartache and pain along the way!

But wait.

There’s GOOD NEWS!

The 6,000-year sentence is almost up.

God isn’t going to allow evil and human suffering  to continue.

He will send Jesus Christ back to restore the Kingdom of God right here on the earth.

That, my friends, is the good news we in the Constant Church of God are proclaiming as a witness to the whole world and then shall the end come.

The end of this present age. The end —— not of this earth —— but the end of this present world.  It means the end of this rotten, corrupt, evil society that has developed on this earth.

God has not abandoned mankind.

He is going to send Jesus Christ back to this earth to establish a new society, a new civilization, a new world.

God’s world!  Full of the peace we’ve always wanted but never enjoyed; overflowing abundance; real success, lasting prosperity and fullness of joy!!

FOR EVERYONE!

This is not a fantasy or some fairy tale.

God has promised it.  The zeal of the Lord of hosts will do it.

God says what He means and means what He says. It is going to happen.

It won’t be long now.
