A National Crisis, Why?

Nations rise and fall. There have been national crises throughout history.  Why are we facing a national crisis today?

Transcript:

The Constant Church of God presents clear answers to your questions, directly from the Bible!

In the time period of the 1800s to the 1960s, Great Britain and the United States prospered more than any other nation ever has.

WHY?

The Bible identifies a great Living God, the Supreme Creator and Ruler of ALL things, Who promises that those who obey Me, them will I greatly bless.

God fulfilled that promise.

However, that promise had a condition.

We must continue to obey God and live as a righteous nation.

But we as the greatest most blessed nation on the earth, are not obeying the God that blessed us with all the unbelievable physical wealth and bounty we have been given.

Obedience was the cause for our nation’s blessings.

The chaos and disorder we see today are the results of our national disobedience.

A departure from the basic fundamentals of  God’s Law.

The abandonment of morality.

And no longer holding fast to the traditions that made our nation prosperous and respected.

We have a breakdown of authority. There is no honor and little respect for parents, local and national leaders, law enforcement officers, and even school teachers.

And the belief that we will do better by following what we think is right.

Remember the old song—“I did it my way.”

But when the disastrous results of “my way”come to pass, then people wonder…

What went wrong?  Why all these problems?

In the Bible, —— the Word of God, the foundation of basic knowledge ——  we find stern warnings from the prophets of old by whom God spoke to His people.

He warned His people to get back to the true worship of the True God.

“If you obey Me, you will be blessed.”
“But if you disobey My Laws you will be cursed.”

In other words, you will reap what you sow.

Cities are no longer safe places.

Crime is out of control.

Ongoing wars are afflicting us.

Sickness and disease epidemics.

Natural disasters are increasing.

And we ask: Why?

Open your Bibles to Jeremiah chapter 30, and verses 5-7:

“Thus says the Lord:
We have heard a cry of panic,
   of terror, and no peace.

Ask now, and see,
can a man bear a child?
Why then do I see every man
with his hands on his loins like a woman in labor?
Why has every face turned pale?

Alas! that day is so great
   there is none like it;
it is a time of distress for Jacob;
yet he shall be saved out of it.

Who is Jacob?

Jacob was the grandson of Abraham. God later changed Jacob’s name to Israel. (Genesis 32:28)

Jacob had 12 sons. So, they became known as the children of Israel.

They eventually grew to become separate nations that still exist today.

They are primarily Great Britain and the United States, as well as the nations of northwestern Europe.  (The United States and Britain in Prophecy, 1967 ed., pg. 164).

What is Jacob’s distress or trouble?

In the book of Jeremiah God reveals what will happen to the United States and Great Britain who have chosen to disobey His laws.

Jeremiah chapter 30, verse 24 says:

“The fierce anger of the Lord will not turn back
until He has executed and accomplished the intents of His mind.
In the latter days you will understand this.”

This is what is happening to us today, because we are now in the latter days.

But God is merciful, He is warning us.

The cause of our national crises is disobedience to God’s laws, the Ten Commandments.

What is the solution?

We can read it in 2nd Chronicles chapter 7, verse 14:

14 If my people who are called by My name humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, — then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

God also inspired Moses to record the following  words for us to consider.

Let’s turn to Deuteronomy chapter 30, verses 19-20.

19 I call heaven and earth to witness against you this day, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse; therefore choose life, that you and your descendants may live,

20 loving the Lord your God, obeying his voice, and cleaving to him; for that means life to you and length of days, that you may dwell in the land which the Lord swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.”

We must choose. Will we continue going our own way that seems right? Or will we follow God’s Laws that caused all the blessings we once enjoyed?

Yes, God is patient, but at some point He will, in love, correct His people.  As a father does his child.
To get their attention, He will allow His people to go into national captivity. And they will cry out to God for His mercy and help.

Here is the good news:  God will send Jesus Christ back to this earth and deliver them.  He will establish the Kingdom of God. And there will be peace, prosperity and happiness throughout all the world!
